OK. Pay close attention to the two pictures above: top one: Da shi da (fish powder) bottom one: Da shi ma (type of seaweed). Similar names (you can see from the names on the packet even if you don't read Hangul) but totally different products .....both of them I recommend you keep in the cupboard.

Thank you for this brilliantly practical post. I am off to the store tomorrow evening to stock my cupboard with the things I don't have. I already have sesame oil, the gochujang, and Korean soy sauce. So only a few other things to pick up! And do you think kim (the dried seaweed) should be on the list? I feel like everything has that in it, or on top of it, or wrapped around it! Hehe. Of course, I do realize this is part I. I'll shut up now. I don't belong in the kitchen!!!
Yep definately kim should be one...when I saw your post I though darn I don't have any in the cupboard but actually I do.. so I'll put it up later.
I'm going to have a special ingredient note seaweed section eventually explaining the different kinds and what you need them for...and another one for mushrooms...I am like a kid at Christmas! do I have to do a day job damn it?
Oh and I am hoping you will provide me with a guest blog in due course! Perhaps Kenny's mum can teach you something and then I can thief it off you.ha ha
